Celebrating our Ving-Tsun Ancestry on International Women's Day

On International Women's Day, we celebrate the ancestors of our Kung Fu lineage. Ving-Tsun (also spelled Wing Chun) was created by a woman, Ng Mui, one of the Five Elders of Shaolin. Ng Mui taught this style to her disciple, a young woman named Yim Ving-Chun (pronounced "Wing Chun"), after whom the form is named. Created for self defense, Ving-Tsun maximizes physical strength by putting the body in the best structural position. A few hundred years later, the martial arts system lives on with practitioners around the world. Ving-Tsun has been showcased in Kung Fu classics such as The Prodigal Son, The Grandmaster, and the Ip-Man movie series just to name a few.
